Starbucks and Headspace Offer Customers Mindfulness and Meditation in the New Year
The mental health needs of Starbucks partners (employees) and the communities we serve are diverse and affect 1 in 5 Canadian adults. Starbucks is partnering with Headspace, a global leader in mindfulness and meditation, to offer customers a series of new meditations to transform their coffee routine into a mindful experience centered around the coffee ritual, along with a free 60-day Headspace Plus trial.* Customers can access the series at www.headspace.com/starbucksrewards.
Fill your cup with mindful meditation techniques
With the recent launch of Starbucks new winter menu, which helps customers find the right beverage and food choices to fit their lifestyle and taste preferences, Starbucks invites customers to pair their new favourite winter beverage with mindfulness this season. Starbucks and Headspace are giving coffee lovers access to a curated series of bespoke meditations meant to create a more intentionally restorative coffee break. The series is narrated by Headspace Director of Meditation, Eve Lewis, who speaks to topics like engaging your senses by focusing and smelling the aroma of your coffee or taking a screen break and enjoying a guided meditation on your daily coffee walk.
Continuing to break the stigma around mental health
In 2016, Starbucks Canada launched an unprecedented $5,000 per year mental health benefit for all eligible employees, who work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and their dependents. Since then, Starbucks Canada has introduced several new mental health benefits including a free Headspace subscription for partners, as well as a completely reimagined mental health care benefit in partnership with LifeWorks that provides all Canadian partners and eligible family members access to mental, financial, physical and lifestyle wellness services, including uncapped short-term 24/7 counselling sessions.
