This sweet-smelling member of the rose family ripens to its juicy perfection each year just in time for shorts weather – making it the perfect accompaniment to afternoon picnics and beach days. The colourful new Tie-Dye Frappuccino is available starting today at participating Starbucks stores, made with tropical swirls of yellow, red and blue.

The camp staple from the 1960s and ’70s is having another pop culture moment, with tie-dye becoming one of the hottest fashion trends of 2019. Now, the Tie-Dye Frappuccino® blended beverage is available starting today (July 10) at participating Starbucks stores in Canada and the United States for a limited time, while supplies last. 

The beverage is made using a tropical Crème Frappuccino with dashes of powder in yellow, red, and blue (which gets its color from red beet, turmeric and spirulina) that mix to make a rainbow of vibrant hues. The beverage is topped with whipped cream and a final dusting of colored powder.

Paloma Carrington-Bataller designed the colorful beverage and worked with the baristas at <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2019/inside-the-tryer-center-the-starbucks-lab-where-anything-is-possible/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)">the Tryer Center</a> to perfect the build.

“We wanted to create something that celebrates summer and really conveys it both visually and through flavor within the beverage,” she said.&nbsp;“We knew it had to make you smile at first sight and our Tie-Dye Frappuccino does all this! It’s summer in a cup and something everyone can relate to; it takes you back to sunny warm days of summer spent at camp or with friends and family.”&nbsp; 

Just as no two tie-dyes are alike, each beverage will have its own unique combination of swirling shades. 

“It's bright and colorful and fun and should bring a smile to your face,” Carrington-Bataller said. “Perfect for the heydays of summer.”

The fan-favourite Frappuccino will return to Starbucks stores in Canada and the U.S. for the summer beginning Tuesday, April 30.

In 2015, we launched the S’mores Frappuccino at Starbucks and it quickly became a fan favourite. In fact, customers loved it so much they wanted to become it.

However, summer 2018 rolled around and something happened: we didn’t rekindle the campfire.

People were left wondering if the S’mores Frappuccino would ever make its annual debut.

But as time went on, fans realized the flavour of summer wouldn’t return.

They refused to forget about their favourite flavour, even two years later.

And guess what? We heard them, we listened, and we can’t WAIT to share it with them again this summer.

Inspired by the nostalgic summer experience of roasting s’mores over the crackling campfire, the Starbucks S’mores Frappuccino starts with marshmallow-infused whipped cream and milk chocolate sauce along with a creamy blend of coffee, milk and ice.
