Starbucks Delivers now available on DoorDash Canada at more than 500 stores, bringing delivery to nearly 50 new communities at participating locations

TORONTO, March 14, 2023 - Starbucks Canada and DoorDash Canada announced a new partnership to offer on-demand delivery of Starbucks at participating locations. Beginning today, DoorDash customers will be able to enjoy fast and convenient delivery of Starbucks favourites from more than 500 stores.

The new partnership also expands Starbucks Delivers to nearly 50 new communities for the first time including Saint John, New Brunswick, Squamish, British Columbia and the province of Prince Edward Island. As one of Canada’s leading last-mile delivery platforms, DoorDash will provide customers with a quick and convenient way to have Starbucks delivered right to their doorstep, all with the click of a button.

“As we continue to innovate the Starbucks Experience with new and impactful ways to connect digitally, we are excited to expand how our customers can enjoy their Starbucks favourites wherever they may be,” said Lori Digulla, General Manager, Starbucks Canada. “Delivery remains a major growth opportunity for Starbucks, and our new partnership with DoorDash will help us reach even more Starbucks customers from coast-to-coast.”&nbsp;

To celebrate the launch of Starbucks on DoorDash, customers can get $5 off their next three Starbucks orders of $20 or more from March 20 to April 2, 2023*.

In Canada, customers will be able to access Starbucks Delivers via DoorDash on iOS and Android devices, in addition to <a href="https://www.doordash.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">DoorDash.com</a>. Key features of the delivery program include:&nbsp;

Prompt Delivery: Orders placed through the DoorDash platform will be delivered by an extensive network of Dashers, designed for expedient and secure delivery so customers can enjoy their Starbucks beverage and food promptly. Customers can track their orders through DoorDash from preparation to drop-off.&nbsp;

Delivered Fresh: Starbucks has developed packaging solutions to help ensure the quality of hot and cold menu items including stickers for beverages to avoid spilling, tamper-evident packaging, and delivery-specific cup holders, including a two-cup tray exclusively for Starbucks Delivers to serve as a barrier between hot and cold beverages.

Customization: Starbucks will offer approximately 95% of its core menu items on DoorDash. Customers can customize their orders within the DoorDash app, including the ability to choose the amount of syrup, type of milk and espresso roasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

DashPass, DoorDash’s monthly subscription program, provides customers ordering from Starbucks on DoorDash with $0 delivery fees. Other fees apply. Customers can check the <a href="https://www.starbucks.ca/delivery/">delivery locator</a> to see if delivery with DoorDash is available in their area.

“In 2007, by chance, the book "Put Your Heart Into It" came into my hands, and after reading it, I was deeply impressed to learn Howard Schultz's vision of making a company led from the heart, developing it with the soul and always placing people in the center. I immediately wondered if a company that puts its partners and clients at the center of its operation was the right place for me. The answer was simple: yes it was.&nbsp;&nbsp;

My journey with Starbucks began in 2008, as District Manager, when I cut the ribbon on store number 29 in Chile. Today, after 15 years working in the company, we are about to open our 300th store in the Southern Cone, and will celebrate our 20th, 15th, and 5th anniversaries in Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay, respectively.&nbsp;

I am passionate about having the possibility to impact different communities and make our stores unique places to work. There are more than 4,000 partners in Starbucks Southern Cone to whom we offer training and real and attractive career development.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Starbucks also allowed me to walk the path towards the exciting world of coffee, being able to see first-hand the entire value chain that exists behind each bean: from planting, maintaining the coffee trees, harvesting and subsequent sale. I had the unique opportunity to be in Costa Rica, and see the support that Starbucks provides to the coffee communities. That experience made me realize the responsibility of honoring each coffee bean that we serve daily, as a show of respect for all families and especially to all the women who are behind its production.”&nbsp;

Rina, head of sustainability and social impact – Malaysia&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rina started as a part-time barista in college before taking on different roles in marketing, public affairs, digital strategy and social impact. In 2022, she spearheaded the <a href="https://www.ywcakl.org.my/post/starbucks-upcycled-flavorlock-pouch-project-launch-in-starbucks-stores" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Starbucks Upcycled Flavorlock Pouch Program</a>, where Starbucks works with women and girls from low-income households to&nbsp;help turn whole bean coffee packaging into <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKKVtKwQr8g%22%20h%20HYPERLINK%20%22https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKKVtKwQr8g" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">small lined pouches</a>, giving them a second life. Not only does this save potential trash from the landfill, but for every pouch sold, Starbucks donates money to the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in Kuala Lumpur to contribute to vocational training to empower women and girls from undeserved communities.&nbsp;

“It is more than just coffee. I am very fortunate to love what I do and be presented with many interesting opportunities. At Starbucks, every day is an ongoing learning journey and it’s always exciting for me! Grace and Hope, barista and shift supervisor, mother-daughter coffee masters – Korea&nbsp;

In 2005, after dropping her daughter off at school, Grace Bae saw a job advertisement at a nearby Starbucks and applied to be a barista. She’d been searching for jobs but felt she was being rejected due to her age.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Grace Bae: "I started working at the age of 39, and I'm already in my 50s, but my goal is to work for a long time because I'm good at managing my physical strength. A cup of coffee can be the start of someone’s day or a precious moment to enjoy with others, so I try to craft every beverage wholeheartedly.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hope: “Starbucks, where my mother worked, was my hangout place. After school, I used to do homework with my friends at Starbucks and wait for my mom to finish her work. It was a familiar space. Most of my childhood memories were with Starbucks. My mom taught me know-how to memorize things easily. It's a strange and special experience that I still have ‘buddy’ customers. These days, I have regular customers who ask me what's going on (after I’ve been away). This workplace has become a precious part of my life, and means as much to me as it does to my mother.”&nbsp;

Katsuko, café attendant – Japan&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I was married in my 20s and a housewife since then. My first part-time job was at age 76 (with Starbucks). When people are almost 80 years old, they are not given much responsibility in society generally. However, when I come to the store, I feel responsible and work on cleanliness as if I am in charge. As a resident of this area for nearly 50 years, I consider it my role to connect the community and my store. I want to be a bridge between artists and my store.&nbsp;

I am happy, rewarded and grateful to be given the responsibility of keeping the store and backyard clean. I am happy to be in a circle of young partners who are as old as my grandchildren and to talk with them.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I thought I can cheer up the elderly in my community through my work. Younger partners will be able to provide customer service that is sensitive to the feelings of younger people. I can understand how elderly people are feeling. When I find someone who looks tired in the crowded store, I call out to him or her and also place a reserved card on a seat and ask him or her to sit and wait.”&nbsp;

“My journey, it's been full of curiosity, learning new things, and of course, developing myself from a barista to a store manager.&nbsp;

When I started working in an all-women store, we were open about everything, like sharing anything with our team. When we have our store briefings, we could talk openly. So that was one thing which I loved the most about an all-women store. And I love how the customers also observed us… it was like, they were surprised. They've never seen this thing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

What makes it special is, of course, the development of our women partners. They start building the leadership qualities.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Starbucks is a place where new ideas are welcomed. It means working in a positive environment where there are no boundaries to one’s growth and learnings. I always go back to the time when I was new to this organization and I was happy to know that the mission and values are not just theoretical, they also can be seen vividly in our stores.”&nbsp;

“Starbucks mission and values match my own personal values. Empathy and community mean a lot to me. Ethical purchasing practices mean a lot to me.&nbsp;&nbsp;

(Many years ago), we had just launched a Reserve coffee that was a first offering from a co-op in Africa run by women – Burundi Ngozi. This was a groundbreaking time for female African coffee growers and my baristas were so inspired to share this story of empowerment in our industry. This is where I made it my mission to share my passion for coffee, coffee stories and coffee education.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I love seeing partners engage with our customers around coffee stories. Taking passionate partners and having them pursue (the) <a href="https://starbucksglobalacademy.com/coffee-academy/about/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coffee Master</a> (program) has been something I feel is incredibly important for our partner experience. Over the past 6 months, I have had four partners at my location become Coffee Masters, all future female leaders for Starbucks.”&nbsp;

Qiong, coffee cupper – China&nbsp;

Coffee cupping is the professional practice of observing the tastes and aromas of coffee.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I chose to join the Starbucks Yunnan <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2018/starbucks-farmer-support-centers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Farmer Support Center</a> (FSC) because I majored in agriculture. As a Yunnanese, I naturally feel connected to coffee and tea, two major economic crops in Yunnan, and I used to have internship experience with a tea house as a tea cupper.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In Yunnan, our FSC agronomists frequently visit the famers and teach them how to grow better coffee. Each year, our quality control team goes to the farms with the agronomists to do quality inspection, teaching farmers cupping, talking to them and helping them tackle the challenges in improving coffee quality. We are doing everything we can to support Yunnan farmers and the local community. One of my jobs is to go to coffee farms, teaching farmers how to do cupping.&nbsp;

I love coffee and I think coffee is an art that reflects a taste of life. Every coffee has a story, and every coffee has its own flavor. You can always learn something new from each coffee.”&nbsp;

“When I was in college, I often went to the Starbucks store nearby. I was always inspired by the relaxing and joyful atmosphere created by Starbucks partners behind the bar. I thought being a barista should be fun, so I joined Starbucks.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The moment I put on my apron, I decided to be a good barista, because I always have role models around me. When I do a heart in latte art, my friends can already do reverse tulip. When I learned tulip, they can do swan... Not just latte art, but other skills as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Our partners are not only diligent in practicing, but also willing to share experiences with me. So, I would love to share my coffee knowledge with more partners. When we share the same interests and beliefs, the way forward is hopeful, full of passion and strength. “Coffee attracts me with its history, but also with its uniqueness and the amount of work that goes behind a regular cup of coffee. I was always fascinated by a simple coffee bean – its shape, aroma, but also by many legends and rituals connected with this fruit. It's amazing how we got from Kaldi in Ethiopia to one of the most consumed and famous beverages in the world.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Being a woman in the coffee industry is special, because when people think about farmers, roasters or baristas, they usually think about male workers.&nbsp; Women are highly present in fieldwork, harvest and sorting. Let’s not forget about some countries as Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda or Indonesia, where women play essential roles on farms. And I think that it would be nice having more women in trading, exporting and analysis or lab work where they are less present (now) because also there they can bring something new and help us grow up together.&nbsp;

It’s very important for us women to remember and believe that we can do and reach anything.”&nbsp;

“In manufacturing operations, every day is different. We receive the green coffee, load and clean it, roast coffee, bag the coffee and load the pallets with bagged coffee on the trucks. As simple as it sounds, every step has its own challenges, and each step must be in perfect synch for the process to work.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It takes the right people, training, and dedication to make this happen. Challenging as this might be, we make it work and I get to learn something new every day about our people, products and processes, which fits perfectly with my curious nature.&nbsp;

From a manufacturing position, I can say that women in any type of manufacturing environment are rare and thus more valuable, even more so in leadership positions. Know your value, recognize that the qualities and experiences you are bringing are valuable and others can learn from them. Above all, empower others – do what you love and give it your all. It might not work out the first time, or the second or third, but you will make it work.”&nbsp;

Designing a new core coffee bag can be a daunting task. Unlike seasonal coffees such as <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2021/starbucks-christmas-blend-the-story-behind-the-beloved-holiday-brew/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Starbucks® Christmas Blend</a> (or even <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2017/20-years-of-starbucks-holiday-cups/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holiday cups</a>!) core coffee packaging does not change every year. In fact, the design is intended to last at least 10 years. So, how does the bag tell the story of the beans inside?&nbsp;

Sergio Alvarez, coffee/tea development lead on Starbucks Coffee team, partnered with the Starbucks Creative Studio to share the stories behind the beans – starting with tasting notes and descriptive words to highlight the flavors of each unique coffee blend.&nbsp;

“We have a very unique and thoughtful way that we develop coffee blends at Starbucks and we wanted to make sure that came through in how we describe them,” Alvarez said. “Depending on the blend, depending on the roast and depending on the region, there are different flavors that we associate with each of these special coffees.”&nbsp;

Although the coffee flavor profiles are the same delicious coffees customers know and love, the new packaging uses more descriptive and culinary terms to describe the flavor notes – like Veranda Blend®, which was updated from “mellow and soft” to “toasted malt and milk chocolate” and Italian Roast, which went from “roasty and sweet” to “dark cocoa and toasted marshmallow.”&nbsp;

Storytelling through art

“Our coffee reminds us of people, or moments, or experiences, and we were able to explore that in the way we approach our coffee packaging,” Alvarez said.&nbsp;

Translating those stories into art was a fun challenge for the Creative Studio’s designers and illustrators, as they sought to weave together past, present and future while tapping into Starbucks new creative brand expression.&nbsp;

“Our legacy has used hand-done illustration to bring warmth and brand connection. We wanted to continue to tie a thread to our new packaging,” said Derek Shimizu, associate creative director for the Creative Studio. “We also wanted to make sure we were staying modern while looking forward into our brand.”&nbsp;

The strategic selection of colors is one of the most important elements of the design. With every creative brand expression since the packaging refresh of 2011, and again with the most current update from 2013, designers have used palettes of gold, copper and purple to signify roast intensity. The new designs continue using those visual cues to identify Blonde (gold), Medium (copper) and Dark (purple) roasts.&nbsp;

Now, what to draw? Illustrators would often start with iconography and motifs that recall past designs. An Italian scooter found its way again on to the front of Italian Roast, as did the roses that adorn Caffè Verona®. And it wouldn’t be Komodo Dragon Blend® without its eponymous lizard. They also worked to incorporate coffee cherries and botanicals into the designs to highlight the origins of coffee.&nbsp;

Designers also consider what they call the “architecture” of each bag to make it easy to shop for their coffees, whether they are in Starbucks stores or the grocery aisle. They created a badge system that is consistent across the roast spectrum with design details that clearly identify roast and tasting notes. They highlighted Starbucks commitment to responsibly grown coffee by bringing the ethical sourcing stamp to the front, underscoring the company’s commitment to positively impacting the lives and livelihoods of coffee farmers and their communities. There's also a traceability code on the back of the bags sold in Starbucks stores that can connect customers in the U.S. and Canada to where the coffee is grown using the <a href="https://traceability.starbucks.com/#/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Starbucks Digital Traceability tool</a>.&nbsp;

“Our current packaging was artful and expressive, but every bag had a different typography, different icon placement, which made it a little bit hard to navigate or find where you were within the roast,” said Shimizu. “We wanted make all of those elements straightforward and easy for the customer to navigate with this refresh.”&nbsp;

Starbucks® True North®&nbsp;

In 2013, Starbucks Canada named a coffee for Canadians, by Canadians. True North Blend® was born after 22,000 entries were submitted in a nationwide contest to name this unique blonde roast that is available today at Starbucks locations across the country. An approachable, easy-drinking coffee, this blend was inspired by the lightly roasted coffees we’ve enjoyed together over the years - subtle but flavourful with notes of toasted nuts and milk chocolate.&nbsp;

“For this design, I wanted to create artwork that highlighted the natural beauty of Canada, as this coffee is made especially for this market,” said Taylor Mattson, Starbucks designer and illustrator. “Clouds of coffee steam interweave through a forest terrain of hillsides and trees, adding some visual levity that highlights the light roast of this coffee. Predominately using yellows, tans and oranges the artwork brings in light and warm hues that also speak to the flavour profile of toasted nuts and soft cocoa.”&nbsp;

Starbucks® Siren’s Blend ®&nbsp;

Named for the Siren that symbolizes Starbucks, this was inspired – and created – by trailblazing women of the coffee industry. Combining coffees from East Africa and Latin America, two regions where Starbucks works everyday to elevate women’s leadership and responsible farming practices, every aspect of this coffee’s journey is touched by women — from sourcing, roasting and blending to the design on the bag.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“We challenged ourselves to create Sirens that felt gestural and abstracted – but also clearly depicted. The solution was art without any faces on the front of the bag, only showing Siren tails layered over artful coffee botanicals,” said Abby McCartin, Starbucks designer and illustrator. “It results in a beautiful feeling of mystery inspired by Siren folklore while also telling a story of sisterhood in the coffee industry in a subtle and sophisticated way.&nbsp;

Starbucks® Pike Place® Roast&nbsp;

Named after Starbucks first store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, this coffee is served fresh every day in Starbucks stores around the world. A smooth, well-rounded blend of Latin American beans with subtly rich flavors of cocoa and praline. It’s the perfect brewed coffee – a consistently delicious cup customers can really look forward to. Enjoy the spirit of Pike Place in every sip.&nbsp;

“In undertaking this design, we sought to leverage recognizable design elements and our brand’s history at Pike Place. To accomplish this, I utilized motifs from our heritage in a style reminiscent of travel luggage stickers and badges,” said Bridget Shilling, Starbucks designer and illustrator. “While the bag celebrates our history, I wanted to ensure the design is still grounded in coffee, so coffee plants are interspersed throughout. We use printing processes to ensure the copper hues will come to life for a warm, metallic effect.”&nbsp;

Starbucks® Caffe Verona®

Named after a city known for romance because it’s easy to fall in love at first sip. This multi-region blend has been winning hearts for decades. Originally created as a dessert coffee for a Seattle restaurant, it quickly became a hit in our stores. Well-balanced and rich with flavors of dark cocoa and caramelized sugar, it pairs perfectly with anything chocolate.&nbsp;

“Named after the city where Romeo and Juliet takes place, we wanted this dark roast to feel romantic and reference the ornate architecture,” said Abby McCartin, Starbucks designer and illustrator. “Layered with our iconic Verona roses, you find a bubbling fountain, ivy draping off balconies, and Italian castle-like detailing. This art is meant to transport.”&nbsp;

Starbucks® Single-Origin Sumatra&nbsp;

Grown on a lush Indonesian island, this spicy coffee is truly one of a kind. Starbucks fell in love with Sumatran coffee in 1971, and it’s been one of the most treasured offerings ever since. The taste is distinctive and unmistakable – strikingly bold and full-bodied with rich herbals, rustic spice notes and a muted acidity.&nbsp;

“For Sumatra, we used color to emphasize the dark roast while incorporating greens and blues along with foil on the tiger stripes and plants,” said Abby McCartin, Starbucks designer and illustrator. “I created an interesting effect by adjusting the scale of the tiger in relation to the palm trees and jungle landscape, noting the similarities between shapes of the tiger and palm leaves. Layering them adds an element of fun and mystery; you definitely see the tiger stripes at first glance, but once you look closer you find more.”&nbsp;

Celebrating 20 years of a holiday favourite&nbsp; Learn the story behind the classic Starbucks holiday beverage

When does it officially feel like the holidays? For some it could be hearing the first notes of holiday music or seeing that first flurry of snow. But for many, the arrival of the holidays is marked by that first taste of Starbucks Peppermint Mocha and its rich, full-bodied espresso mingled with the flavour of chocolate, peppermint and whipped cream.&nbsp;

Starbucks Peppermint Mocha may be one of the most beloved of holiday beverages, but it wasn’t actually the first. Christmas Blend coffee made its debut in 1984, hand-scooped and packaged in brown kraft paper coffee bags to be brewed at home. Then came the first handcrafted holiday beverage in 1986, created behind the espresso bar at Il Giornale (which merged with Starbucks in 1987) by Dave Olsen, who steamed up a pitcher of eggnog and milk to make the first Eggnog Latte.&nbsp;

Ten years later, the first red Starbucks cup made its appearance and, as the company expanded into Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Starbucks created its first beverage research and development team.&nbsp;

“Customers’ understanding of espresso and lattes was really in its infancy,” said Peter Dukes, who joined Starbucks as a product manager for espresso beverages in 2001. “I think [a holiday beverage] was a good introduction for a lot of people back then to lattes and espresso.”&nbsp;

After successfully launching Gingerbread Latte in 2000, the R&amp;D team was tasked with exploring ideas for the next holiday beverage. Dukes remembers being invited to the R&amp;D team’s Liquid Lab to be part of a team of about 10 partners who tasted new beverage concepts. The group was truly cross-functional – including partners from operations, finance, supply chain. 

The team tried a few different flavours that would resonate with customers during the holiday, including an idea for a white chocolate cranberry beverage. But they quickly landed on a peppermint-flavoured twist on the classic Caffè Mocha inspired by the flavours of traditional holiday candies. From there, the team refined the recipe, finding the perfect combination of rich Starbucks espresso with bittersweet mocha sauce, peppermint syrup, and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of red sugar sprinkles.&nbsp;

The beverage was introduced to Starbucks customers for the 2002 holiday season, and quickly became the most popular holiday beverage in Starbucks history. It’s still the most loved holiday beverage on the menu today and available hot, iced and blended. Its recipe has changed only a little; it’s now made with 2 percent milk as the standard and with dark chocolate curls instead of red sprinkles. 

“To know you’re part of something that turned out to be pretty special even 17 years later is unique. It takes me back to those times in the Liquid Lab with an extremely diverse group of partners sitting around a table tasting different variations of the peppermint mocha,” Dukes said. “None of us were professionally trained, but we ended up with a beverage that continues to resonate with our customers today and we had a lot of fun making it.”&nbsp;

When Starbucks introduced its first holiday cups back in 1997, the word “selfie” had not yet been invented. Facebook and Twitter were still years away. Still, those holiday cups created buzz.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sandy Nelson, then a Starbucks designer, created that first set of holiday cups, selected from over 100 design concepts. They weren’t red – but instead were wrapped like a gift in rich shades of magenta, sapphire, and emerald and purple. The design featured a linoleum block-style pattern with swirls and hand-drawn holly leaves flecked with coffee beans.&nbsp;

Nelson remembers the first time she saw customers carrying cups with her designs. She was visiting Anchorage, Alaska for Thanksgiving, and stepped off the plane to see a Starbucks kiosk piled high with stacks of colourful cups she had designed.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I thought, wow, this is big,” Nelson said. “But I had no idea what was ahead.”&nbsp;

The next year, the holiday cups made an even bigger splash as customers were invited to “embrace the warmth” of the holidays with a cup in purple hues. Then in 1999, the cups featured a candy-apple red design for the first time, and a new icon was born. Before long, pop culture websites featured countdown clocks anticipating when cups would be “red again,” and the cups popped up everywhere from nascent social media platforms to late-night talk shows. Year after year, the excitement around the holiday cup seemed to grow and the cup itself became emblematic of the season.&nbsp;

“What’s happened now in popular culture is that the appearance of the red cup signals to people that it’s time to celebrate the holidays,” said Sandy Nelson. “Who would have thought 25 years ago that would happen?”&nbsp;

This year, Starbucks is introducing <a href="https://stories.starbucks.ca/en-ca/stories/2022/red-cup-season-is-here-2022-starbucks-holiday-red-cup-designs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a new set of four designs for the holidays,</a> wrapped like a gift for their customers just as they were 25 years ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Looking back at all the years of holiday cups, you can see the commitment to design and artistry and all things handcrafted,” said Gary Jacobson, Starbucks creative director for this year’s holiday campaign. “I think that’s why they have become part of a lot of people's holiday traditions. They just invite people in.”&nbsp;

With the first holiday cups, customers could enjoy a Christmas Blend brewed coffee in one of four jewel-toned hues. &nbsp;

Stores were adorned in deep purple and sepia tones with an elegant holiday cup featuring swirling snowflakes. &nbsp;

The classic candy-apple red Starbucks holiday cup makes its first appearance in this whimsical design with black line-drawings of snowflakes, stockings and winter celebrations.&nbsp;

“Coffeetown” was the theme for the Y2K cup, depicting a whimsical village of coffee pots, set against a glittering nighttime sky.&nbsp;

Giving the gift of Starbucks became easier than ever this holiday with the introduction of the <a href="https://stories.starbucks.ca/en-ca/stories/2020/celebrating-20-years-of-the-starbucks-card/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">first Starbucks Gift Cards</a>. The cups themselves are designed to look like a present, trimmed with green and red ribbon and old-fashioned postage stamps.

Peppermint Mocha makes its debut this year, and a cup design that featured white line art, an illustration style that returned again in 2005 and 2016.&nbsp;

Shadows dance across a fanciful scene with shimmering stars and snowflakes.&nbsp;

The Starbucks logo is reminiscent of an evergreen wreath in this year’s cup design. The cup was also the star of a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-HFl7o1Vxw" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Starbucks video</a> featuring the cup fixed atop the roof of a yellow taxi speeding through the streets of San Francisco.&nbsp;

This nostalgic design features white woodcut-style drawings and a string of holiday lights twinkling along the rim, along with a reminder that “It only happens once a year.”&nbsp;

Illustrations that appear as intricate cut paper silhouettes gather in traditional holiday tableaux.&nbsp;

Ice skaters twirl on a frozen pond as snowflakes gently fall in this quiet winter scene.&nbsp;

A field of reindeer and a single white dove are depicted in a moonlit woodland landscape with an overlay of a cozy knitted pattern. &nbsp;

Caramel Brûlé Latte make its debut this year, along with a cup design that featured cut-paper ornaments inscribed with the words “joy, hope, love, light, peace” hanging on sprigs of evergreen.&nbsp;

The cups take on a more modern vibe with new holiday characters catching snowflakes in a palette of red, white and gray.&nbsp;

Carolers sing, an ice skater spins, and a dog sleds down a hill with these series of three holiday cups. Customers make these <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo3VeweHD74" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">merry scenes come to life</a> with Starbucks Cup Magic, an augmented reality app.&nbsp;

The holiday characters, including a jaunty snowman, come in for their close-up in this design series with bold accents of navy and gold.&nbsp;

The cup features a swoop of coffee cherries, coffee flowers and vintage ornaments painted in a deep garnet with touches of gold.&nbsp;

“Let there be bright” is the theme for the holiday, with fanciful brushstrokes in bold colours.&nbsp;

The cup features a two-toned ombré design, with a bright poppy colour on top that shaded into a darker cranberry below.&nbsp;

For the first time, Starbucks features customer-created <a href="https://news.starbucks.com/news/starbucks-red-cups-2016" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holiday cups with 13 designs</a> from six countries around the world, all with hand-drawn white against a red background.&nbsp;

Starbucks unveils its first white holiday cup that customers could colour in themselves, with a pair of hands connected with swirling ribbons and splashes of red and green. Later in the season, a red cup debuted with a white heart inviting customers to “Give Good.”&nbsp;

The suite of cups celebrated the spirit of yesteryear with a modern twist, with doses of vintage colours and patterns and reinterpreted with graphic flair. The set of four designs featured snippets of Starbucks holidays past – a star, a branch of coffee cherries and a flame.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A perfectly wrapped gift inspired this series of four designs in our signature colours of red, white and Starbucks green. Typography is used as the main illustrative element for three of the designs, with whole letters playfully danced like musical notes (and even sprang to life on Instagram using augmented reality). Irish Cream Cold Brew made its debut this season in a special holiday cold cup with dancing letters that spelled “merry coffee.”&nbsp;

Designers started with little ribbons like washi tape (a decorative, adhesive tape) and wrapped them in different ways on cups. They brought in greens and a shade of red that’s a little brighter than the shade Starbucks may be famous for to give it an extra pop. The cups reminded customers to “Carry the Merry.”&nbsp;

With shimmering ribbons, a splash of colour and a sprinkle of stars – this year’s designs are wrapped up like gifts for the holidays. This year's theme features festive colours of red, green and white with playful touches of lilac.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The classic holiday red and Starbucks green are joined with accents of mint and sparkles in this set of cup designs, a perfect way to celebrate the <a href="https://stories.starbucks.ca/en-ca/stories/2022/starbucks-peppermint-mocha-a-love-story" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">20th anniversary of the Peppermint Mocha</a>.&nbsp;
